Intel 1U Passive/2U+ Active Combo Heat sink with Fan for Quad-Core Xeon Processors, socket LGA771.This CPU Heat sink solution is capable of being used in both a 1-U server with ducted air, as well as a 2-U (or desktops) without ducted air.

When used as a 1-U Thermal solution the onboard fan is removed to make this heat sink a passive cooler. But while being used as a 1-U passive heat sink it is important that the server have ducted air to ensure proper heat dispersion.

When used as a 2-U, or standard desktop style, the fan is left on the unit and ducted air is not required because the onboard fan is capable of dispersing the heat.

This Heat sink/Fan solution features the new 4-pin fan power connector that provides better speed control, and a higher efficiency fan motor. This effectively provides better cooling, quieter operation, and better energy savings than a standard 3-pin fan would.

These fans are brand new and come in clear blister packaging. The have the Intel thermal coupling compound pad still intact on the bottom of the heat sink, and they are ready to install.
